Innocent World Inspiration

I have always liked the lolita brand "Innocent World". Unlike Angelic Pretty, it goes for a more subdued and "classical" style (though it does have some sweeter prints!). While browsing though the IW website yesterday (and bemoaning the fact that they have sales and I can´t buy the JSKs), I found several pieces that I consider quite "inspiring". They are pieces that are still lolita, but perfectly fit into a more "cute mature" style, which is what I´ve been favoring for the past half-year or so.

 This is the "Lilyanne" JSK.

It´s elegant. The top is reminiscent of a suit, in my opinion, which makes it more "serious", something which is also added to considering that it´s a solid-color dress, with no prints whatsoever.
Bonus: its look changes when you completely close its buttons--instead of a "serious" it goes more into "military" look. I love it.Versatile.

This is the "Dot print halter neck JSK".

It reminds me a bit of the "rockabilly" style (is it the halter neck or the polkadots? Perhaps the the skirt´s line), but the colors that IW give it a touch of "elegance" more than "wild" that (at least I) associate with the rockabilly style. The nicest color is chocolate, followed by navy. You have the possibility of removing the neck ribbon and the belt--the end result is somewhat plain, but it does definitely open up possibilities for accesorizing and turning it sweeter (or darker).

This is the "Rose Stained Glass" skirt.

An oh-so-shameless want. I lust after this skirt--the print detail is so amazing, down to the graded dyeing in the print so as to resemple a real piece of stained glass artwork. It is so pretty (in all colorways) that I don´t care weather I could use it or combine it in more than one outfit--I just know that I´d enjoy wearing this skirt over and over.



So, what´s your opinion on these new JSK and skirts that IW has come up with for this autumn-winter season? Like? Dislike? Does IW´s classic style do anything for you, or are you more into AP´s sweet or AatP´s darker prints?

Lolita 30 Day Challenge: Day 2

Day 2: 10 things you love in lolita.

1. I can haz petticoats: I love the feeling of fluffiness under my skirt, the swish they make, the volume that they add. They give me a feeling of elegance and "olden days"-ness that I am addicted to.
2. Lolita makes me feel  girly and pretty: There is nothing quite like a frilly dress and a bow, coupled with a pannier in order to make me feel femenine. After spending most of my teenage years attempting to deny the fact that I had grown breasts and was therefore female.....I have embraced my femininity in my twenties. Go figure. I must be a late bloomer.
3. Lolita has lovely prints: Prints and a style that you can´t usually find in mainstream European style. I love prints so much.  They don´t even have to be OTT sweet prints, any print style is unique.
4. Lolita has brought me so many friends:  Truly, I have met so many wonderful people thanks to lolita, essentially through MyAsianFashion.com. Zeruda, Do-chan, Luna Rain, etc. ....people that have become friends, people I admire, people that inspire me. All thanks to lolita.
5. Lolita has taught me the value of secondhand clothes: In my culture, secondhand clothing isn´t very well spoken of, so I´d never thought about actually buying secondhand clothes.  Now it´s become a normal idea, since I usually buy burando secondhand. Secondhand is no longer synonymous with "tattered, low-quality and old" in my mind.
6. Lolita has improved my "mad internet skillz":  By forcing me to navigate though crazy websites in japanese. Seriously. So hard. =.=*
7. Lolita has given new impulse to my interest in fashion and makeup: Before lolita, I didn´t really care about either of these things. Now I actually enjoy them.  Considering that it´s something that´s important when looking for and holding a job....yeah: Thank you lolita fashion!
8. Lolita clothes are good quality: Which is a rare thing in clothes nowadays. I really like it.  It´s something I appreciate.
9. Lolita is something I can share with other people: It´s a way to shout out at the world. And, frankly, on some days I really appreciate and like to bask in attention.
10. Lolita always has interesting accesories: Whether OTT sweet to gothic or classic, lolitas all over the world accessorize accessorize accessorize! They´re always so original, it´s a total inspiration. I love how you can wear so many differnt things in your har, on your wrists, around your neck...!

Yes, I really like lolita. Even though I´m not an everyday lifestyler, I love it. <3 

Here´s a picture of my beloved Closet Child petticoat (which I am starting to consider too poofy to be everyday-wearable, as my tastes are inching towards classic lately...and I need an A-line instead of a cupcake.....but oh well. It still feels my love.)

 

MILK brand clothes

I am really starting to like this brand lately. It has a style that is cute, and yet isn´t to the extreme of lolita, and is therefore more "wearable" in the amount of stares that you´ll be getting. I recently bought a salopette (it´s the MILK type of dress I like the most), which I can´t wait to wear when the weather starts getting a bit cooler. I also have another salopette and a jacket by them. Sadly, the jacket is 3/4 sleeves for me (=.=**). I know it must not have been so for a cute little Japanese woman. Man, I have such long aaaaarms.....which is why I never buy anything long-sleeved from a japanese brand. My arms need European sleeves, though my chest does not.

This is one that I have my eye on. It was available on Closet Child a few months ago, but I was sadly pretty broke back then. Now, it´s gone (insert sad wail here).  It´s my next fashion-acquisition goal:

 

It´s a perfect combination of cute and trendy, IMO.

Does anybody else have any idea where I might be able to get it (or rather keep an eye out for it)? I have no idea if EGL Sales even accepts this as a "lolita" brand, even though Closet Child classifies it as such....

Hello everyone! I´m back from my vacation! I had a fun time in the north of Spain; it was great! Initially, I wanted to post a lot of pictures from my trip, but sadly, i haven´t managed to sort through all of them yet (yes, I made about 1.7GB worth of pictures in a week and a half....).

I promise to look through them this weekend, though. :) Meanwhile, I´ll leave you with a teaser pic of myself in front of "El Capricho", near Comillas.
